Bijli Bachat ("we", "our", or "the app") is an independent electricity planning and estimation web app for Pakistani households. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices users have.

Bijli Bachat is an independent project operated under the name Bijli Bachat. It is not an official government or electricity company service.

By using Bijli Bachat at bijlibachat.pk, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Bijli Bachat may collect information that users provide while using the app.

Account Information

When you create an account or sign in, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Authentication information required to create and manage your account

Household and Electricity Information

To provide bill tracking, estimation, insights, and planning features, we may collect information such as:

  • Electricity provider selected during onboarding, such as MEPCO, LESCO, FESCO, or GEPCO
  • Consumer category or household preferences
  • Billing month
  • Monthly electricity units
  • Total bill amount
  • Optional bill breakdown fields, such as FPA/FCA, QTR/DMC, GST, electricity duty, arrears, deferred amount, installment amount, and other adjustments
  • Estimator inputs, such as units used so far, billing days, elapsed days, or meter reading date
  • Saved estimate snapshots

Bijli Bachat does not ask users to upload electricity bill images, CNIC, exact home address, or phone number.

Analytics and Technical Information

We may use Vercel Analytics to understand basic website usage and performance. This may include general technical information such as page visits, device/browser information, and performance-related data.

Bijli Bachat currently does not use advertising services and does not take payments.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Save user bills and electricity usage history
  • Provide electricity bill estimates
  • Show trends, insights, and slab-threshold guidance
  • Improve app performance and user experience
  • Debug errors and maintain app security
  • Respond to user questions or support requests

3. Estimate Disclaimer

Bijli Bachat provides estimated electricity usage and bill guidance only.

The app is not an official electricity bill, government service, WAPDA service, NEPRA service, MEPCO service, LESCO service, FESCO service, GEPCO service, IESCO service, or DISCO service.

Actual electricity bills may differ because of tariff changes, taxes, FPA/FCA, QTR/DMC, arrears, subsidies, protected/unprotected status, meter reading dates, billing-cycle length, provider adjustments, manual input errors, and other official bill factors.

Users should always verify their official bill and meter reading.

4. Third-Party Services

Bijli Bachat may use third-party services to operate the app, including:

  • Supabase for authentication and database storage
  • Vercel for hosting and analytics
  • Email service providers if needed for support or account-related emails

These third-party services may process information as needed to provide their services.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell user data.

We may share limited information only when necessary to:

  • Operate the app through trusted service providers
  • Maintain app security
  • Respond to lawful requests or legal obligations
  • Protect the rights, safety, or security of Bijli Bachat, users, or others

6. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect user information, including using trusted service providers for authentication, database storage, and hosting.

Users are responsible for keeping their login information safe and should not share their password or account access with anyone.

7. Data Retention

We keep user information for as long as needed to provide app features, maintain records, improve the service, resolve issues, and meet technical or legal requirements.

Users may delete some records inside the app where deletion options are available.

8. Account and Data Deletion

Users can request account and data deletion from inside their logged-in account settings.

For security, deletion requests are linked to the authenticated account. This means the request belongs to the currently logged-in user account and not to an email address manually typed into a form.

After a deletion request is submitted, we may review it before processing. Deletion requests may be processed manually.

When processed, we may delete account-related app data such as bills, estimates, settings, and other saved household data.

We may keep a minimal deletion record, such as request status and completion date, for security, abuse prevention, and record-keeping purposes.

If you cannot access your account, you may contact us at bijlibachat16@gmail.com. For security, we may ask you to contact us from the email address registered with your Bijli Bachat account or complete another verification step before processing any deletion request.

9. Children’s Privacy

Bijli Bachat is not designed for children. Users should not create an account or submit information if they are not allowed to use online services under applicable rules.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
